HOMEMADE MARSHMALLOWS
Homemade Marshmallows
Easiest marshmallow recipe ever!!
Yield: 12 - 16 Marshmallows
PREP IT!
½ cup Water
1 packet Gelatin, unflavored
1 cup Sugar, granulated
¼ teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
MAKE IT!
In a medium microwave safe container or in a medium pot, whisk together water and gelatin to dissolve. Add in sugar and stir until moistened.
Microwave for 2 minutes or heat on the stove top until contents is hot and sugar begins to dissolve.
Carefully pour hot mixture into a mixer. Add in salt and vanilla.
Using the whisk attachment, whip on high until mixture is light and fluffy. Mixture will cool and turn white and shiny. It will be done when soft peaks form. This took about 14 - 18 minutes when I did it.
Using an ice cream scoop or a spoon, scoop out dollops of the marshmallow mixture onto a powdered sugar covered plate. Let set about 30 minutes at room temperature until marshmallows firm up.
Coat firm marshmallows with additional powdered sugar to prevent sticking. Shake off any excess. Enjoy!!
Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
Tips for Toasting Marshmallows: Toast marshmallows over an open flame by sticking them on a skewer and rotating until browned. Be sure to blow out the flame if the marshmallows catch fire.
Tip: For flavored marshmallow, try replacing vanilla flavor with another flavor.
Tip: Great with Hot Cocoa !!
