LAVENDER CHAMOMILE LEMONADE

This lavender and chamomile is from the garden. Aren’t you proud?!

Lavender Chamomile Lemonade

A glass of summertime… it’s so freaking good!!!

Yield: 6-8 servings

PREP IT!

  • 6 large Lemons, washed, peeled and juiced (about 1 cup)

  • 7 sprigs Lavender, fresh or dried

  • 8 Chamomile flowers, fresh or dried

  • 2½ cups Sugar

  • 5 cups Spring water

  • Ice

MAKE IT!

  1. In a large mason jar or pitcher (half gallon sized or larger) add lemon peels, lavender, chamomile, and sugar. Cover and let infuse for 24 hours. Sugar will be the texture of wet sand after infusing. This is because the essential oils from the lemon peel, lavender, and chamomile are being extracted and infused into the sugar over that 24 hour period. This gives you the taste and aroma of true lemon in your finished lemonade. Ya know, like the lemon taste you get from lemon zest or the aroma you get from cutting a fresh lemon. It also makes the taste and aroma of lavender and chamomile really stand out!

  2. Add the juice from the lemons (about 1 cup) and 5 cups of water. Stir to dissolve sugar. Refrigerate to chill.

  3. Enjoy over ice! For less sweet lemonade, I like to either let the ice melt a little or add half water to my glass with the lemonade.

Tip: Spike with your favorite spirit to make it a cocktail! Also if within 2 days you drink all the lemonade, you can use the same batch of lemon peels, lavender, and chamomile to make more lemonade. Just add another 2 cups sugar, 1 cup lemon juice (can be bottled this time), and 5 cups water. Let sit in the fridge overnight and enjoy for up to another 2 days.
