TRAVEL BLOG THURSDAY - OREGON COAST
DAY TRIP DOWN THE OREGON COAST AND BACK || OREGON COAST || PACIFIC NORTHWEST || USA || June 2018
On June 16th, 2018 it was a beautiful day so Taste Bae and I decided to drive… well I mean, he drove, but whatever; we decided to drive the Oregon Coast since we’d heard so many good things about it. Here are all the stops we made. We did the drive down and back with stops in about 18 hours. We left early at 8 in the morning and got back super late, like at midnight. It was absolutely breathtaking so I’ve included tons of pictures.
So first off, we got pulled over, not because of speeding or anything but here are 5 reasons why:
We’re black.
We are in a truck with tints and a sound system?
We are black.
It was in a small town and they must’ve been bored?
We are of the African American persuasion.
But anyway, the trip was great after that little waste of time.
Cannon Beach - Where the Goonies was filmed. We took Aja to her first real beach; meaning one that touches the ocean and not the Puget Sound. She of course love it with her sandy behind!
Pronto Pup - They sell corndogs here. I thought I was being nice by getting Taste Bae a veggie dog, thinking it was just a sausage shaped thing of veggies inside. Turns out there was mock meat in it and he doesn’t like the texture of those. Funny thing is, he told me what would be inside before I bought it but I insisted and we even bet on it. I lost. My corn dog was good though.
Tillamook Factory - We toured the little museum thingy they had, tried the cheese samples, and got some ice cream which I should’ve gotten AFTER I had to use the bathroom. Taste Bae had to hold my cone while I was waiting in the super long line for the bathroom and when I came out, the melted ice cream was just running down his arm. The site of him still holding onto that cone was actually really sweet! No pun intended. Ha!
Devils Punch Bowl State Park - We stopped here to see what the punch bowl was about. I was basically I ginormous crater looking hole with ocean water running through it.
Mo’s Seafood & Chowder - I got a cup of clam chowder before our next stop.
Thor’s Well - We then went to Thor’s Well which was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. The sun was setting so it made the visual even more spectacular. We started at the top of the bridge, parked and walked down a little hiking trial to what seemed like directly into the ocean. The tide was low enough that we were able to walk right up next to the well and see the water splashing up. We were also able to see the sea life in the wade pools; starfish, sea anemones, periwinkles, barnacles, etc. It made me reflect on how great God is for creating all this art!
We then decided to head back home but we drove through a town called Wakonda, Oregon first before getting onto I-5.
That was one of the most fun, cost effective trips I’ve been on and we got to see so much cool stuff!
Okay, that’s all I got for ya today!
Thanks for reading all these words!
Love ya!
